This year Purnavu Muiža Cup was held for the 11th time and the Baltic Championship SK-35 for the 4th time. These competitions have finished, but they left us with a lot of positive emotions, great memories and even better results. We are very proud that this event has become the biggest shooting event in Latvia with three major disciplines – Game shooting / Sporting + A-Trap, the Running wild board 35m and other, smaller, disciplines.
The great weather conditions and many successful organizational arrangements helped to make the event more fluent so that the competitors from Latvia and Lithuania could compete in the fastest possible manner. Unfortunately, this year there were no competitors from Estonia, which could be explained by the European Championship in sporting being held in Italy.
This year was no different from the others; the competition was full of exciting and unpredictable moments!
Firstly, we want to congratulate the overall winner by total score Juris Lazdiņš! He showed us an excellent performance and was unbeaten in sporting, and trap shooting.
In the complex valuation there was an equal result between the 2nd and 3rd place winners, thus according to the regulations the tie-breaking criteria was the result on the SK-35 discipline. Therefore, the 2nd place winner is Jānis Zandbergs and in the 3rd place – Andis Apse.
Clay shooting`s best shooters were skilled enough to have an identical results, thus to find out who the best shooter is they had to re-shoot the series. After the re-shoot Juris Lazdiņš and Ēriks Bergs, who earned 48 points in the main series, took the 1st and 2nd place out of 89 total competitors. However, Mārtiņš Gaņģis and Dairis Neilands, after 46 points in the main series, competed again to receive an equal result – 19 points. To find out who is going to take the 3rd place, they had to have a duel until the first mistake. In the end Mārtiņš Gaņģis was the one who prevailed in this intense duel winning the 3rd place in this discipline.
Running wild boar SK-35 gathered 112 participants. The competition was very intense and showed excellent and skilled results with an unbelievable outcome where the maximum score – 100 out of 100 was gotten 5 times. The successful and precise shooters responsible for these amazing results were Vilnis Veitners, Mareks Bašens and Mārtiņš Turkopulis. Mārtiņš managed to get this exact result 2 times in a row, in the semi-finals and the finals. We congratulate the winners for this discipline: 1st place and the winner of the SK-35 cup Vilnis Veitners, 2nd place - Mārtiņš Turkopulis, 3rd place – Aivars Delveris.
In the group for juniors and ladies we congratulate 3 amazing ladies who showed excellent results: 1st place Lauma Zīle, 2nd place – Marina Rjabkova, 3rd place - Agnese Kārkliņa. All of these ladies are representing the shooting center Mārkulīči, therefore, Mārkulīči has something to be very proud of!
In the SK-35 team competition, the winners of the 1st place were “Bebra Kungs Talsi-1”, leaving “Mārklulīči – Zala Arms 1” in the 2nd place and “Mārkulīči-Zala Arms 3” in the 3rd.
Out of 82 participants in Game shooting in 100m the most successful shooters got 197 out of 200 points. The winners – 1st place Mārtiņš Turkopulis, 2nd place went to our guest from Lithuania Stasys Jurkus with 194 points and the 3rd place with 193 points – Arnis Romans.
A major THANK YOU to all of the participants and their fans for the support and attendance, to the owners the shooting centre Mārkulīči for allowing us to hold this event on their territory and of course the great judges who were working hard on that beautiful Saturday day!
